Volunteering: – Individuals,Agencies and Groups:  We welcome individuals as wells as groups to support us in our efforts to improve the lives of youth and families.  The following are volunteer options you can choose from – feel free to mix and match or create your own, individualized volunteer job description.
 
1 Group Facilitator:  lead a group of youth in a recreational or educational activity of your choice.  Our young people really enjoy learning from you. Groups will not exceed 15 youth and may meet one-time or become a regularly scheduled group.  Some examples of group topics include: art, poetry, drug and alcohol awareness, self-esteem building, cooking, employment readiness and career options.
 
2 Administrative Assistant:  Spruce Street SCRC has a great need for computer data entry from our client files.  This activity will give you a good understanding of the types of youth that we serve.  All client information is, of course, private and confidential.
 
3 Residential Assistant:  Assist our Residential Counselors on the floor supervising youth, preparing meals and running activities.  Maximum number of youth will be 15 with a 3-to-1 ratio of residential counseling staff to youth.
 
4 Community Educator:  Come learn about Spruce Street SCRC, what we do, the youth and families we serve and the many strengths that we bring to the community.  Assist us in public relations outreach to various sectors of the community by making presentations and creating outreach materials.
 
5 Public Policy Advocate:  Develop other public policy advocacy tools such as legislative talking points and informational literature.  Research pertinent data, including statistics and success stories, which support the mission and goals of Spruce Street SCRC.
 
6 Community Researcher: Find out what is being done in the community to help children and families.  Which services exist?  Where are the gaps in service?  Where are the duplications of service?  Identify how well we are doing as a community to meet the needs of our community members.
 
7 Program Evaluator:  Develop and employ program evaluation tools that measure how effective Spruce Street SCRC programs are at meeting the goals and achieving the mission of our organization. 
 
8 Marketing and PR Assistant:  Assist in the development of a program brochure and other marketing materials to produce a creative, effective PR package.
 
 
Service Learning and Internships:  Spruce Street SCRC is an excellent placement choice for service learning, internship of senior projects.  Our Community Development Manager Katarina Ireland-Hill will assist you in crafting a placement that meets your educational needs and provides on site support.  Please see above Volunteer Options for possible placement activities.
 
Donations:  We always welcome donations of books, puzzles, paper and pens, posters, art supplies, toiletries, etc. that create a more welcoming and stimulating environment for our youth.  Please call before making a donation in order to set up a drop off time.  Spruce Street SCRC is also able to accept financial donations.  Please call for more information.
 
Legislative Support:  Please call and let our legislators know how important our work here at Spruce Street is to the lives of our youth and their families.  Please contact Jim Hargrove and Mary Lou Dickerson, as well as your own legislators to put in a good word for us!
